Prince Harry has revealed that he lost his virginity in field to an older woman who loved horses. The Duke of Sussex claimed in his recently published memoir, Spare, that he lost his virginity behind a pub in 2001 on a grassy field, even though a number of things went wrong. But British journalist Rupert Everett stated that Harry’s account of how he lost his virginity is not correct.
“I know who the woman he lost his virginity to is,” Everett said. “And it wasn’t behind a pub. And it wasn’t in this country. I’m just putting it out there that I know.”
In his book, Harry said he lost his virginity at the age of 17. He said he was at Eton and royal aide Mark Dyer had come visit. Dyer had heard from sources that Harry was into drugs, and then Prince Charles had detailed him to come to find out the truth. Harry said Dyer was “looking grim” on arrival and that they had met for a lunch at a café in town.
Harry said he talked with Dyer about the loss of his virginity, not initially knowing he wanted to learn the facts of whether he was into drugs.
“I suspected he was referring to my recent loss of virginity,” the prince wrote in Spare. “Inglorious episode, with an older woman. She liked horses, quite a lot, and treated me not unlike a young stallion. Quick ride, after which she’d smacked my rump and sent me off to graze. Among the many things about it that were wrong: It happened in a grassy field behind a busy pub. Obviously, someone had seen us.”
As if he knew Everett would counter the veracity of his story one day, Harry stated in his memoir that if there was anyone that ought to know how he lost his virginity, it should be him. He said the media have misrepresented several parts of his life and that he would be sharing his personal story in his own words in the book.
“For 38 years, countless media and others have told a distorted version of my story,” the Duke of Sussex disclosed. “I’m at a place in my life where I’m ready to share the truth about my lived experience, in my own words. I’ve been working on this for the past two years and have poured my heart and soul into it, choosing each moment with care. It has been a privilege to be able to tell my story in my words.”
