Last January a picture of a starving boy broke our hearts and took the internet by storm. It featured the little boy drinking water from a bottle in the hands of a woman. A year later, the pair recreated the picture showing us his amazing recovery and heartwarming our hearts!
The boy was found by a Danish NGO in the streets of Nigeria. The NGO took care of him and now show us adorable Hope wearing his lovely uniform and heading to school.
Heartbreaking picture.
Last year the Danish Aid Workers rescued a starving two-year-old boy. He was found on the streets of Nigeria on the verge of death.
The picture featured a woman, Anja Ringgren Lovénwas, tilting a water bottle toward the fragile boy’s lips. And it broke our hearts big time.
Your Relief.
Anja is part of a Danish organization called DINNødhjælp (‘your relief’). The organization rescues children who are labeled as witches and therefore abandoned by their parents.
These kids are tortured, neglected and killed by their parents. The NGO rescues these kids and shelters them. So, Anja took him and named him Hope.
Recovery.
Hope was hospitalized and taken care. He was treated for malnutrition and stomach worms. Anja stayed really close to him during the whole process.
Hope was discharged from the hospital and began gaining weight in March, last year. Just 8 months after his rescue, Hope completely regained his energy.
Just look at that lovely face!
Kids are priorities.
Now he had made a full recovery and is almost unrecognizable. He lives in an orphanage where he shares with children who were cast away by their parents.
Anja and her team are running the orphanage. Anja talked about her labor and how important are children. “All children have rights and those rights must be protected, always” she stated on Facebook.
This is the recreation of the viral picture.
Hope gives us hope.
Now Hope is starting school and has some friends in the orphanage, where he was taken with love. He’s so adorable is simply heartwarming.
Kids worldwide should be the number one priority to people, they represent our future in every way. NGO’s efforts to help those in need and make a positive change in the world are really admirable.
Just look at this Nigerian cuties.
