New “Slender Man” Trailer Makes It Seem Less Scary

No, That Isn’t A Compliment

Via: Entertainment Weekly

We all remember Slender Man, don’t we? The legend about a very, very tall, thin, faceless guy? Well, if you don’t, you might be too young. Don’t worry about it. We’ll explain who he is. The important thing is that there’s a new movie trailer.

Watch it here:

We should be excited and scared about this… But, unfortunately, we’re not.

“Why, that was scary!”

Come on, you know it wasn’t.

Slender Man or Slenderman is an online urban legend created by Eric Knudsen in 2009. The creepypasta actually was born from a Photoshop contest on Something Awful, in which the creator took a couple of black and white pictures of groups of people, and in a children’s park and edited a figure in the back. In the woods you could see a very slim, tall figure of a faceless man wearing a suit.

This was one of the captions:

“we didn’t want to go, we didn’t want to kill them, but its persistent silence and outstretched arms horrified and comforted us at the same time…”

1983, photographer unknown, presumed dead.

Supposedly, Slender Man not only stalked people (specially children) from the woods. He’d kidnap, attack, or kill them as well. Sometimes he’d even make others kill for him. Now, THAT’S scary!

Of course, people liked it and went along with it. Some even made their own stories and pictures, adding tentacles and such to the creature.

Soon enough, Slenderman was so popular it had video game adaptation in 2012, and a couple more in 2013 and 2015. But people can take things too far… In 2014 there was a murder, claimed to be a crime Slenderman had committed.

Aaanyhoo…

The thing is… On paper, the idea of a Slenderman film sounds amazing, you know? What could possibly go wrong?

Well, from this trailer alone, you can tell it isn’t gonna be as scary as the stories you’ve read online. The movie shows three girls trying to summon Slenderman to save their friend. And once they let him in, they can’t get rid of The Babado… Oh, wait.

Yeah, yeah, Slenderman makes them go crazy and haunts them forever. NEXT!

Our only hope here would be that the movie doesn’t even come close to what we just saw in this trailer. Let’s see if there’s a pleasant and horrifying surprise for us on August 10.
