In a recent interview with Collider, Christian Slater talked about many things: his character in the new movie The Wife, what it felt like working with people like Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce, his favorite scene or moment. But what really caught our eye was the fact that he stated that Mr. Robot‘s next season might be the last one.
When they asked how did he feel about season four, this was his response:
Season 4, and I believe that will be the last season. Sam [Esmail] always said it was going to be somewhere in that zone, and he didn’t want to go further than what he could creatively contribute to that storyline.
Yeah, we know… But when the show’s creator says it’s time to stop, then it’s time to stop. Specially since Esmail originally wrote the idea of Mr. Robot as a movie! So, of course, he knows where and how the story should end.
But that’s not all, folks
Collider also interviewed Mr. Robot‘s star Rami Malek, and he said something very similar.
Yeah, he’s [Esmail] always said maybe four or five, and that is still pending in his head. I’ll tell you that I’m sure the studio would love to see it go for as long as it could, but he’s restrained. He’s got a story to tell, so I’m all for whatever he wants to do. He’s a very brilliant human being.
We’ve seen how the series has been developing and from minute one we’ve trusted Esmail. We can all agree that he’s a genius and this show is in fact one of the most amazing shows ever to be made. And maybe he’s also following Vince Gilligan’s example, since Breaking Bad had only five seasons, five glorious seasons.
So, in Mr. Esmail and the rest of the writers we trust. No doubt they’ll keep up the good work and finish this show the way it should. But the news just leaves us wondering: what comes next? Is there a Stage 3? What’s going to happen with Dom? What about Darlene and Vera? So many questions! Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get to see something about it soon. Anything. Please?
