Real Time with Bill Maher had an epic encounter on Friday when Larry Wilmore couldn’t handle Milo Yiannopoulos’ comments. The comedian gave Yiannopoulos a rant after he made some comments about transgender people.
Even before airing the episode people knew it was about to get real. Intercept founder Jeremy Scahill canceled his appearance on the show after learning the self-proclaimed troll was attending the show.
Real Time with Bill Maher going real.
On Friday, things got really heated on the discussion panel, which included Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos, former Republican congressman Jack Kingston, intelligence analyst Malcolm Nance and comedian Larry Wilmore. The episode was bound to spark some fire after a Yiannopoulos’ five-minute speech about transgender people.
The white nationalist claimed that transgender people suffered from “a psychiatric disorder” and shouldn’t be “around little girls.” Yiannopoulos said they are “vastly disproportionately involved with sex crimes.” Nance asked Yiannopoulos “Are you the real, true face of the alt-right?,” and added: “I thought the Nazis were in there, how did they take you on board?”
Take a look at the outburst:
Burning panel.
After these comments, Yiannopoulos kept smiling and assuring Maher always invites awful people to the show and they’re stupid. He then added, “You need to start inviting higher-IQ guests.”
That’s when comedian Wilmore stepped in and said, “Hold on, hold on, you can go f–k yourself, If your argument is that these people are stupid you didn’t hear a word this man said earlier in this segment because he can talk circles around your pathetic, douchey little a–.”
The former Nightly Show host also defended SNL’s Leslie Jones by saying “Leslie Jones is not ‘barely literate.’ Go f–k yourself again for that one, okay. She is a very thoughtful person, and very friendly.” The SNL actress was brought to the discussion after last year Yiannopoulos encouraged his followers to tweet hate speech against the actress.
Settle down, boy.
At this point, Maher advised his guest to work on his rhetoric. This crazy outburst comes after the Breitbart editor had to cancel a speaking event in Berkely University because his presence provoked violent protests in the campus.
Yiannopoulos who is a Trump supporter, has been accused of racism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia. Despite this President Trump has defended Yiannopoulos as a “free speech” defendant.
Boy, you lit the fire.
People are criticizing Maher for normalizing Yiannopoulos speech and his gentle treatment towards the guest.
While others are praising Wilmore for stepping in fro transgender people-
