The Killers is one of the world’s most beloved and popular bands. With iconic hits that have marked the 2000’s. Now their new and very awaited album is finally coming closer to be released, as it’s in its final stages of production and mixed. Making the wait a little bit shorter and the excitement a little bit bigger.
This upcoming album will be the fifth record the band will release. They took a hiatus period after their 4th album “Battle Born” in 2012. Along with that, the band has imposed themselves a top date. Since they promised to be performing new music at the British Summer Time Hyde Park.
Why so long?
The band announced that new music was on its way a long time ago. They’ve been in the recording studio since September, and have been recording in Las Vegas, San Diego, LA and Joshua Tree with U2 producer Jacknife Lee. With them just saying all this time that the album was “coming along” and that “It’s sounding good”.
But the waiting has been way too long, and we still don’t have a releasing date. This has been in part to the bands experimenting a lot with new sounds and trying to push their boundaries. As Drummer Ronnie Vannucci said: “We have a problem with taking two steps forward and one step back, so that makes it take longer. We keep asking ourselves: ‘What does a four- piece band do? How do you keep it fresh?’ It’s a constant exercise in experimentation”. To what singer Brandon Flowers added, “How should a band sound in 2017?”.
Finally mixing time
After the recording and producing process is time for the mixing. David Fridmann has been the producer on the process. He has produced for the Flaming Lips and MGMT, as well as “Lonerism” for Tame Impala. As he stated in a news section of his website, saying he was “doing a mix for the Killers” on 4 May.
Recently the band has teased a bit of a new song. Also, frontman Brandon Flowers revealed: “There are moments that feel heavier than anything we’ve ever done, not that we’re the heaviest band in the world, but they have a finesse because of our experience. There’s also really beautiful things. Lyrically, it’s really close to home“. While Vanucci said “We’re trying to arrive at something we’re all just a little bit uncomfortable with. When everyone is slightly uncomfortable, then we know we’re there. We’re just pushing it in different directions, then bringing it back and trying another direction”. He ends, up by saying that “By then we’ll have some new shit for y’all”.
