Yes, it’s about Katy people

Since its releasement, John Mayer’s new song “Still Feel Like Your Man” raised the question, whose man, John? The singer answered this question during an interview with the New York Times posted on Thursday.

Mayer was not shy to admit that the subject of his song is his former girlfriend, Katy Perry. To be fair, it’s his most recent relationship. He said, “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

The couple dated on and off for about a year and a half until early 2014. Since that John admits he hasn’t been back in the rodeo, he even admitted he’s ready to ditch his bad boy reputation and is ready to settle down.

Still Feel Like Your Man

The song is a usual Mayer’s soft melody with reflective lyrics. The catchy tune includes lyrics like, “I still keep your shampoo in my shower, in case you wanna wash your hair / And I know that you probably found yourself, someone, somewhere, but I do not really care.”

Much more than a breakup record.

John’s ‘The Search for Everything’ is out next month. In the interview, Mayer added that even when the album started as a breakup project it was about more than that.

He said,  “There were times when tears came out of me, and I went, O.K., John, this is not about an on-again, off again relationship. This is something more profound.”

In fact, the singer reflected on his life and said, “I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th,” he added, “I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.”

On March 31, John is beginning his US tour with 15 dates, starting in Albany, New York and finishing in Las Vegas on April 22.
