Jimmy Fallon is definitely the king when it comes to being a host, and I’m not talking just about his awesome show. He owns the stage no matter the target or situation. He adds another huge award to his long list of experience. And he did a good job.
Jimmy’s first Golden Globes Awards was all you can imagine and more, not only he used the country political climate as inspiration to his opening monolog and many more jokes. But he gave us music and magic in the best musical opening ever.
The coolest opening ever.
Clearly, when it comes to hosting awards we’re in for a treat if Jimmy’s the one doing it. But even Jimmy set the bar way too high by doing this opening. The magical, musical and hilarious opening takes much of La La Land and adds the favorite things of this year’s movies and tv shows. Enjoy!
Ain’t gonna kill my vibe.
Jimmy went with music in his Golden Globes opening, not just because he can’t help himself from dancing and singing. No, this time the host was inspired in Sunday’s huge winner La La Land and presented an elaborated musical number that blew our minds. It was directed by The Tonight Show’s Dan Opsal, and Mandy Moore was in charge of the choreography.
Everybody’s in, and I mean everybody.
The musical was a recreation of La La Land and was set in the traffic jam to get to the Awards. Jimmy was accompanied by Nicole Kidman and Amy Adams. There were also cameos of John Travolta, Sarah Paulson, Evan Rachel Wood, Courtney B. Vance, Sterling K. Brown. Most of them paying tribute to their characters in movies and series, such as hooded Rami Malek who showed up saying that he had hacked The Tonight Show.
Not again!
Kit Harington suddenly appeared in a limo, and honestly you could think he was dead, and then he pulls his best Jon Snow performance and wakes up in the same scary way. But you forget all that once he starts signing and smiling.
Revelation time!
The summer hit was also part of the opening to make it even cooler. Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Finn Wolfhard wear their characters’ clothes while Millie Bobby Brown’s raps. And then they drop a bomb!
Barb’s still alive!
At the end of their rap, they said that Bar’s still alive. Then Shannon Purser emerged from a pool and all of the sudden she was surrounded by synchronized swimmers cosplaying her character.
Jimmy at the piano.
In a more intimate setting, Jimmy takes the piano. In a funny plot twist, Ryan Reynolds appears over the piano and shares a mint with the host. Then Jimmy starts singing a version of the musical. In the song Room Full of Stars, he talks about the big night and the actors.
Dishing Tina off.
Jimmy runs into Tina Fey and dishes her off to meet his bestie, Justin Timberlake. JT and Jimmy then dance the hysterical waltz, as in La La Land in a very romantic way.
Time to host.
Jimmy is finally ready to host the show and he starts feeling nervous but his good old buddies gave him the courage to go on stage. You gotta admit it was iconic all the way.
