Vox.com made an economic analysis of Homer Simpson and how he represents the American middle class. Since 1995 Homer confirmed he was a middle class, even though some of us imagined it already. Homer lives in the suburbs with Marge, Maggie, Lisa and Bart and in addition of two pets, Santa’s helper and Snowball. He works a normal job even though he’s not a college graduate.
In season 7 Matt Groening let us see his paycheck, and Vox made the calculations to estimate his annual income which was determined to be $24,395 and adjusted for inflation that would make a total of $37,416. Even though Homer has a steady job at the nuclear plant, he has had over 191 jobs in all 27 seasons that go from mascot, astronaut, boxer, plow driver, mayor, conceptual artist and much much more.
Taking all the information in all 27 seasons, Vox made a total economic analysis and determined that most of Homer’s jobs placed him in the middle class, they also determined that Homer Simpson hasn’t really ascended economically, much like the normal middle-class fellows in the US.
