Guy Ritchie Might Be The Suicide Squad 2 Director, He Already Showed Interest

Could It Be?

Superhero movies are a big deal. Especially in recent times where they’ve experienced a successful spell. But despite Marvel ruling, the cinematic game, DC did their best shot with an innovator approach and released Suicide Squad. The movie got very poor reviews and was badly received, especially after a big mediatic promotion. Still, some think that the supervillains plot-line can be saved and have been asking for a Suicide Squad 2. So who will take charge of it since even director David Ayer stepped down the project?

Since January many directors have been linked to the film. Even including on the bunch Mel Gibson. Still, none has been confirmed, and that is where Guy Ritchie’s name comes on. Supposedly the British director is one of the few ones that would really want to direct the sequel.

Something to work with

The world of supervillains might have sounded better than it was. But still, the characters of Will Smith and Margot Robbie shined enough to spark some interest to keep the saga alive. Besides bad guys have always had their charm. Also, Warner Bros. is hoping to get in the superhero film race, along with DC who want to cut the gap between Marvel. With upcoming releases of Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman movies.

So will anyone watch the Suicide Squad 2? There is still the interest and a twist from the director will obviously help the purpose. Especially from a guy like Ritchie who is known for adding this changes and granting certain poetic liberties in order to make a more entertaining film. Besides he has experience in delivering entertaining action movies like “RocknRolla” and the “Sherlock Holmes” saga.

Real interest

Recently Ritchie spoke again about his interest in directing the film, in an interview with Variety to promote his latest movie “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”. “I quite fancy doing Suicide Squad 2 because I felt like I could do good job with it. I can’t do it because I’m doing something else…but I felt like I could really do something with that”.If really Ritchie would direct the DC movie it will be in a long time. Since he has some prior commitments, like Disney’s live-action take on “Aladdin”. Ritchie has been working with John August to switch the script, as he clearly would like to join the DC Extended Universe.  So the director, who has written many of the movies he has participated on, may still have some work to do before getting his hands on “Suicide Squad”.
