Great news, everyone! Foo Fighters is releasing a brand new album on September 15. Titled ‘Concrete and Gold,’ the album was announced by Dave Grohl during an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac on Tuesday.
Days after unveiling their new single “Run,” and performing “La Dee Da” live in Iceland, beloved Dave Grohl officially introduced what will be Foo Fighter’s ninth album.
For ‘Concrete and Gold,’ the singer has promised a completely new sound for the band, as they are now working with producer Greg Kurstin, who has worked with artists such as Adele and Pink.
“I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever,” said Grohl. “I said Greg, ‘I want to make a record that sounds like Mötorhead doing ‘Sgt. Pepper,’ and he was like ‘O.K.’”
So, basically, expect some heavy pop influences on that new album. But don’t panic! Barely containing his excitement, Grohl said that the 11-song album is “definitely the hugest thing we’ve ever done.” Seriously, the guy is more excited than all of us together.
‘Concrete and Gold’ will feature several guests
Grohl also revealed that the new record will feature numerous artists. He gave no names, we only know they are “some that will really surprise you.” Hi did say that “there’s one who is probably the biggest pop star in the world and — I’m not kidding — sings backup on one of the heaviest songs on the record, and we’re not telling anybody who it is.”
Damn, David, not even a clue? Could it be Adele? Justin Bieber? Beyoncé? Actually, that Beyoncé/Foo Fighters collabo doesn’t sound so crazy, don’t forget the amazing job she did with Jack White in “Don’t Hurt Yourself” for her massive album ‘Lemonade.’ I don’t know, maybe Madonna?
September seems so far away, how am I supposed to move on with my life?
