Donald Is Working With His Brother Stephen On This One

Deadpool is getting his own animated series. FXX and prolific artist Donald Glover will be bringing everyone’s favorite anti-hero to our screens.

The show, created by Glover and his brother Stephen, will arrive in 2018.It’s set to be a 10-episode first season. Nick Grad, co-president of FX Networks and FX Productions, added: “Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta.’

Donald Glover simply refuses to stay still for a couple of months. Known for his role as Troy Barnes in ‘Community,’ and creator of the comedy series ‘Atlanta’. It earned him a Golden Globe. He’s also co-starring in one of the next ‘Star Wars’ franchise installments. He’ll serve as the voice of Simba in ‘The Lion King’s live-action reboot, and on his free time, he records music under the name of Childish Gambino. In 2016, he released one of the most acclaimed albums of the year.

Glover and his brother Stephen are listed as showrunners, executive producers, and writers of the new series. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory will also serve as executive producers, while Marvel Television in association with FX Productions and ABC Signature Studios will produce the show.

“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald, and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth,” Loeb said. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with ‘Legion’ continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Another adult-themed comedy for FX

The show is the latest animated project in adult-themed comedy for FX. They already run ‘Archer’. Last year, FX president John Landgraf announced that FXX was looking to move “really aggressively”. Mainly into animated series in the adult animation format. The new ‘Deadpool’ series should easily fit these intentions.

The series follows FX’s successful collaboration with Marvel Television on ‘Legion,’ – already airing – while ‘The Gifted,’ which focuses on teenage mutant Polaris, is scheduled to debut this fall.

As for Glover, it is not his first time collaborating with Marvel. He has served as the voice for Miles Morales in some animated Marvel shows, and fans picked him to play the character in a hypothetical live-action movie. Currently, he has a co-starring role in the film ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ which will hit theaters in July.

Deadpool Animated Series cast is still a mistery

The animated series will be based on the Marvel superhero. Who’s story was already taken to the big screen in February 2016. It was a gigantic box office success, earning nearly $800 million internationally, with a $58 million budget. Ryan Reynolds was responsible for reincarnating the superhero and delivered the audience a revitalized, unconventional R-rated costumed hero film – the same path Hugh Jackman’s ‘Logan’ is following. On June 1, 2018, an imminent sequel is set to be released.

We don’t know much yet. Some are expecting Reynolds himself to lend his voice for the project.

Since this is an animated series, there could be possibilities for a potential crossover from other characters. We’ll have to wait and see what Glover’s mastermind is up to sooner or later.
