Comedian Charlie Murphy Looses His Battle With Leukemia at Age 57

Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy’s brother, passed on Wednesday in NYC The actor, comedian, and writer passed in an NYC hospital after battling with leukemia.

The comedian is survived by his brother and three children. Celebrities honor him once they learned of him passing away. RIP Charlie Murphy, and thanks for all the laughs.

Charlie Murphy passed at age 57

Comedian Charlie Murphy died in an NYC hospital this Wednesday as confirmed by his publicist Domenick  Nati. Murphy had been suffering from leukemia and passed at the age of 57 years old.

Unfortunately, Charlie lost the battle against leukemia which came as a surprise for his family since they believed he was doing better.He leaves behind three children, two from his marriage to Tisha Taylor Murphy, who died in 2009 from cervical cancer, and another from a previous relationship.

Murphy kept the good vibes and beautiful energy until the last moment. Just hours before his death he Tweeted a final message that said, “One to sleep on: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible.”He also previously shared a quote from Abe Lincoln,

“Rise & Grind: Wake up with the rising sun and seize the day!” it said.

The comedian that is most remembered for his performance on The Chapelle Show leaves beautiful memories of endless laughter to friends and fans.

Eddie Murphy’s older brother made his own way in comedy as an actor and writer. He first made his debut in 1989’s Harlem Nights, directed by his younger brother.He continued appearing in roles in Spike Lee films like Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever. He also appeared in movies like movies like 1993’s CB4 and 2005’s King’s Ransom.

But without hesitation, his status as comedian phenomenon came from his work as a cast member on Chapelle’s Show, where “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories” resulted in memorable sketches.

In the sketches, the comedian featured he and his brother’s celebrity encounter in the 1980s with David Chapelle portraying Rick James and Prince in the legendary sketches.

For a while, he dedicated to writing. Charlie co-wrote with his brother Eddie the movies Vampire in Brooklyn and Norbit. He also wrote the hit movie Night At the Museum, starring Ben Stiller

There was not stopping for him, he became a frequent voice on television, animating Adul Swim shows like The Boondocks, Black Dynamite, and Black Jesus. He also voiced the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.In 2010 he got his own special Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize on Comedy Central.

In 2016, Murphy took part in the Comedy Get Down tour along with Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, D.L Hughley and George Lopez.

Remembering Charlie

Charlie Murphy grew up in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn, there he often stuck up for his little brother Eddie. Charlie used to joke about fearing his mom’s wrath if bullies picked on Eddie more than the bullies themselves.

That guardian role bade only natural for Charlie to serve as a security guard for Eddie as he rose to stardom. But since he took so seriously his job, to a scary point, Eddie suggested him to embark his own career.Thank god his brother urged him to share his comedian skills, thanks to this he became the comedian we know nowadays and will always remember.

Friends and celebrities turned to social media to tribute the comedian. Messages praising his work as well as his personality. Twitter was flooded with messages expressing sadness for the news and also praising one of the funniest men of all time.
