Arnold Schwarzenegger had just undergone a successful heart procedure in Cleveland Clinic in Ohio; and he has been exercising in the streets by taking photos with popular statues in the area. The actor and former governor of California were operated on to have a new aortic valve, two years after he did another surgery to have a new pulmonary valve – this second surgery complements the first one.
“Thanks to the team at the Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery,” Schwarzenegger wrote on social media and also posted photos he took in the streets. “I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying your amazing statues. Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team!”
In one of the photos, he was seen standing in front of Thomas Jefferson statue opposite the Cuyahoga County Court House, and in another photo, he stood beside the statue of Jesse Owens in West Lakeside Avenue, and yet in another, he was beside the statue of Abraham Lincoln located behind the Board of Education building on Mall Avenue.
The father of five looks bright and healthy in social media photos. He even posted one in which he was on a hospital bed. His children have all wished him a speedy recovery in addition to the thousands of goodwill messages from and outside the country. He has daughter Christina, 29, and son Christopher 23, from his marriage with Maria Shriver; he has son Joseph Baena, 23, from a previous relationship with Mildred Baena; and Patrick as well as another child.
“Please don’t go workout today,” son Patrick urged his father on the social media post he made.
He suffered a congenital heart defect in 1997 and had his aortic valve replaced, while his pulmonic valve was also replaced that same year. He had initially been expecting a less-invasive catheter valve to be inserted but his doctors said he actually needed an open heart operation.
“I went to sleep expecting to wake up with a small incision and woke up with a big one,” Schwarzenegger tweeted in 2018. “But guess what? I woke up, and that’s something to be thankful for.”
