One of the biggest nights of the year coming, the 89th Annual Academy Awards will take place next Sunday, February 26th. This special event usually leaves us speechless and I am not talking just about the big winners of the night, I’m talking about the gowns.
Let’s remember the most memorable outfits of the Oscars’ while we wait for the big night.
Check out this Top 5 of the craziest gowns that made our past nights!
5. Lizzy Gardiner, 67th Annual Academy Awards
The designer made quite a statement when she arrived at the 1995 Oscars, wearing a dress she created out of American Express Gold cards. The fun part, the dress was one of the worst in Academy Award history but then it was auctioned off for charity for $12,650, with the proceeds going to The Foundation for AIDS Research.
4.Cher, 70th Annual Academy Awards
Cher stole the lights at the 1986 Academy Awards, by wearing this memorable Bob Mackie outfit. This was her statement because they failed to nominate her for her highly-acclaimed starring role in the 1985 hit “Mask.”
3. Tyra Banks, 72th Annual Academy Awards.
I’m all in for Vera Wang, but this wildly unflattering purple creation makes us believe that Tyra Banks took some cues from Barbie at the Academy Awards in 2000.
2. Bjork, 73th Annual Academy Awards
In 2001, Bjork wore a swan dress by Marjan Pejoski, that made everybody go crazy, people couldn’t stop talking about it. But after al,l the sun shined for the singer whose dress was part of an exibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.
1. Angelina Jolie, 84th Annual Academy Awards.
Jolie wore an Atelier Versace gown that made her become the star of the Oscars, stealing the show with its attention-seeking antics. After that night, bloggers and artists had some fun sharing pictures of Jolie’s now-infamous right leg slotted into well-known photographs and artwork.
