7 Celebrity Breakups That Give Us Something To Think About

Even In Those Dark Moments, Clarity May Arise In The Form Of Wisdom

Many might think that obsessing about the relationships and breakups of celebrities can be absurd. But is not all plastic in the business entertainment. Some of these heartbreaks can be filled with wisdom, and even when we cannot relate to fame and fortune, we can empathize in the matters of love. Here we present to you the insight on seven women in the entertainment business, in the hopes that it can shine some light on your personal life:

Emma Stone

The actress that gave life to Gwen in The Amazing Spider-Man, not only dated Peter Parker in the movie but for three years, she dated Andrew Garfield, the protagonist of the film. As sad as it is, they weren’t meant to be. However, in an interview with the Interview Magazine, she talked about her first heartbreak when she was only 14.

“I have never felt anything quite like that. It was so visceral. It’s like someone has killed you and you have to live through it and watch it happen … It was awful.” – Emma Stone on Interview Magazine, 2012.

Taylor Swift

Anyone who has heard anything about Taylor Swift knows that she has a reputation of having an endless story of breakups and that she uses the experiences to compose her songs. Even when her choices in men might need a little fix, we can appreciate that creating something beautiful out of a painful relation can be a positive way to deal with it.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway is one of those actresses that we respect, among other things, for the way she has handled her life. It is no surprise that most child actors can have a rough life growing up, but Hathaway showed us that it doesn’t have to be that way. The actress from Princess Diary seems to have handled her love life the same way

“I was a 21-year-old kid when I met him. It wasn’t a huge, dramatic breakup. We were in the process of winding it down when he was arrested. I don’t talk about this, except when I’m asked. It’s not a part of my life anymore.” – Anne Hathaway on Vogue Magazine, commenting about her breakup with Raffaello Follieri.

Ellen DeGeneres

The host of The Ellen DeGeneres show has caused admiration from all over the world, not only for her charm as a comedian but mostly because she came out of the closet. But sexuality is not a savior of sour relations. She’s had two relationships that have lasted three years each, and the relationship with her current wife Portia de Rossi might be going down the drain.

“I know what it’s like to lose someone. And that’s a horrible feeling, [but] it’s almost worse to lose someone and know they’re still alive out there, and I don’t understand.” – Ellen DeGeneres on Los Angeles Times, 2001

Miley Cyrus

If there is one word that describes Miley Cyrus, is this: shocking. However, with her daring shows and music videos, she has proven that she can be a strong woman when it comes to relationships. She has survived from the breakup with Liam Hemsworth and shown that being alone can be beneficial.

Katy Perry

Another sex symbol makes her way on the list, and Katy Perry isn’t shy when it comes to showing her cleavage. She was married to British actor, Russell Brand, and is currently going through a break up with John Mayer. However, her insight on relationships is far deeper than we anticipated.

“There are two ways you can go: You can either nurture yourself or go destructive. I have gone down the destructive path before, and that didn’t work for me.” – Katy Perry on Marie Claire, 2014

Selena Gomez

And we come to the end of our list with one of the most public breakups in celebrity’s history, and that is the relation between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. It is the tragic story of an 18-year-old girl who finds herself in a relationship published in all the papers covers. The next day, she is one of the most commented breakups, with people taking sides with one or the other. We find that sometimes, the innocence of a young heartbreak has more understanding than anything else.
